2 New Postcards

I sent off two new postcards a few days ago. I'm happy with how they turned out, especially the second one. The images come from a couple of old National Geographic magazines and a elementary school science textbook.

The first one is going to Rhonda, a mail artist I met online. This is the first card I've sent her. I hope she likes it. (The lady on top really did come from an old Nat Geo -- she was part of a strange travel ad.)

I've started collecting images of people's backs. They're unexpectedly useful in collages. You have to look for them, though, since they're often on the edge of a photo and not very noticeable.

The kids in the second card were already blue when I found them. The color makes them seem like a memory that the older man in the hat is reliving. That's how it struck me, anyhow.

I made the card background by tearing up pages I had altered using Citrasolv and sanding

Mail art may be turning into my latest obsession. Stay tuned.

  2. I love to collage but mine don't look as good as yours do. Guess I will have to keep trying.

    1. As long as you love doing it, that's the important thing. One thing that's helped me is looking at lots of collages done by others -- I can see what I like and would like to try.
