Elbows in! Making notecards out of an old typewriter manual

A couple of years ago, I wrote about why I love old typewriter manuals. I finally worked up the courage to cut up one 50s era manual to make a set of cool notecards, for sale in my Etsy shop.

It took a few tries to find the right layout and colors. I wanted to include a variety of images as well as blocks of practice text.

I wish there were more illustrations with that secretary! But in a pinch, I can work with stubby fingers.

To hold the cards, I sewed full page from the manual to a piece of recycled cereal bag

Can I bear to part with them?

  2. Great cards and packaging! Hmm, wonder if I used that book in my typing class in 11th grade.

    1. I remember practicing with my dad's old typewriter when I was little. I can't believe how heavy it is (I grabbed it before he gave it away). How did we live through all that analog stuff?

  3. I know exactly how you feel, having something vintage that's really cool and then being afraid to cut it up for a project! But I hope you're glad you did; your cards turned out great!
