The first one is going to Rhonda, a mail artist I met online. This is the first card I've sent her. I hope she likes it. (The lady on top really did come from an old Nat Geo -- she was part of a strange travel ad.)
I've started collecting images of people's backs. They're unexpectedly useful in collages. You have to look for them, though, since they're often on the edge of a photo and not very noticeable. The kids in the second card were already blue when I found them. The color makes them seem like a memory that the older man in the hat is reliving. That's how it struck me, anyhow.
I made the card background by tearing up pages I had altered using Citrasolv and sanding.
Mail art may be turning into my latest obsession. Stay tuned.
Wow, I love these postcards, definitely interested in more, amazing collage techniques, loved the compositions!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ruth!
DeleteI love to collage but mine don't look as good as yours do. Guess I will have to keep trying.

As long as you love doing it, that's the important thing. One thing that's helped me is looking at lots of collages done by others -- I can see what I like and would like to try.
DeleteOh cool! I look forward to receiving my post card!! Already love it! Thanks Claudia!
