Here's a project that I didn't expect to like -- two very small faux books, wrapped in thread and sealed with wax.
The books fit inside a small collaged box.
The box started as a flat piece of cardboard, scored, folded and covered with bits of leftover paper. It reminds me of a wall pasted over with layers and layers of peeling posters.
Each 2 x 3 in. book consists of 100 dictionary pages, cut, folded, pasted and painted using water-soluble graphite. The wax makes them look old and mysterious, like ancient charms buried in an old Roman tomb.
I must make more!!!
You hid your concern really well. I am glad you ended up liking the tiny boxes with books. You did a fantastic job with them. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to these fun books!
DeleteHi, Claudia, these little books are fun! Did you do these in John's class? I especially love the FG cover.
ReplyDeleteI have done some work with wax and really love it!
Hope you are having a good end of spring. I have been gardening a LOT, which makes me very happy.
Hope all is well and maybe see you one of these days. Come to visit in Port Townsend at some point. Would love to see you.
Yes, fearless leader John showed us how to make these. I'll be in Port Townsend in late September for a class with Jane Davies -- maybe we can get together then!
