Glamour shots -- collages featuring women in fancy hats and men with hammers

Recently I inherited a stack of old magazines from my husband's aunt. The women's magazines from the mid-1950s are pure gold. This set of collages feature demure ladies modeling knitted hats. I paired each with an old-fashioned calling card (from a vintage etiquette book) and handymen (from 1950s home DYI books).

The collages are larger than my artist trading cards; they measure 5"x7". I started them in our collage workshop and finished them at home. They are double-sided -- I'll share the other side in a later post.

  1. I have a large collection of pre 60 magazines and knit/crochet instructions - yes they are the BEST! Love how you used your images in your collages!

    1. Thanks, Jewels! So far, the "McCall's" magazines have been very fun. But the ads are so sexist!
