Experiments in (paper) stripping

I follow many collage artists on Instagram, for inspiration and new techniques. I saw this "stripping" technique a while back and had to try it. At first, I used an old pasta machine to make the strips, but found a paper cutter produced cleaner edges. 

The creativity comes in selecting the two images to merge. Below are some of my experiments, some successful and some not so great. Can you tell what's in the original images?
