My backyard hits peak bloom for just a few weeks in May. Shy rhododendrons become flaming extroverts, with pink, white, purple and red (my favorite) flowers, attracting bees and birds. Irises show off their extravagant petals, and hosta leaves erupt from the ground, bigger each year.
